Purple Power

Purple Power

French Provincial furniture is my favorite for a little girls room. It is dainty and feminine. So it is only obvious what color choices I had to choose from.

I had this neglected deep purple spray paint laying around screaming "start with me!". I wanted to make sure every detail of this dresser stood out.

Unfortunately one piece of hardware was broken so I had no choice but to replace two of them.

Did the different shades of purple with the gray and white accents work together??

Chalk Paint Dresser

This piece was a beauty untouched, all except the rather large burn on the top! Urg. If I thought for a second I could have sanded it down I would have much rather done so. Unless items are damaged I prefer to leave some wood showing. Well that is unless I have a crazy vision (which can happen often LOL).
I am not really a fan of chalk paint but decided to give it a go on this one.

For some reason my imagination was on vacation. I just started painting and this is what I ended up with.

The one thing I did love about this was the color changed so drastically between natural light and inside light. It looked like two different dressers from day to night.

I thought for sure this one would sit on Craigslist for a while but it sold within 24 hours! Yay!

Fun Chandelier

I am obsessed with chandeliers these days.
My Mom purchased two chandeliers at a garage sale in Florida for $5 a piece. She had planned to use them and didn't, YAY for me!
I plan on putting one in my bathroom (some think I am crazy) and the other I decided to play around with.

Felt it needed a little glam with rhinestones
These mason jars were perfect and leaves a diamond like pattern on the wall when on

Just a fun little project...
Oh and it matches the Chevron dresser!

Stripping and Stripes

Stripping and
Chevron Stripes

I purchased this dresser on Craigslist and sent my teenage son to pick it up. Wrong move, although he did not know any better!! This baby was layered in four coats of paint! A lovely mix of latex and spray paint, you'll love the before pics. And you can only guess right that the photos on Craigslist did not show all the roughness!

We will start the "Before's"

 Mix match hardware
 Broken drawers
Spray paint drips ALL OVER
This was my favorite! Love the blotches...

It took 4 rounds of stripper remover to even get it remotely ready to paint. Here is a look after the 2nd round

The insides of these drawers were so "painted" and full of drips I had to sand and paint them also.

Never again will I send someone else to pick up furniture, lesson learned. BUT, yes there is a but...I must admit when I did see the photos on Craigslist I had a vision in mind and probably would have bought it anyways! Hehehe

Well, here is how she turned out:

Original plan was to do teal and white stripes but when I purchased the hardware I knew I needed a contrasting color. I love how the colors all tie together
The teal is actually a little darker than the pictures show
I could not have done this without the FrogTape Chevron pattern. WOW did it make it easier. The ONLY painstaking task was making sure eveything lined up. I think I did pretty good??

Side by Side Before & After:

Was it worth it??
I think so!!
(and it was practice for my daughters dresser LOL)

The snow is FINALLY gone!!

As much as I LOVE snow
I am thankful it is gone this week!!
After almost 3 weeks of this
I am welcoming this beautiful spring weather!!

Last night and today we have been cleaning out the garage/workshop and ready to get to work on some new/old furniture :)

I am hoping to have a few pieces ready before the weekend so make sure you check back and see what we have come up with...the creative juices have been over flowing all winter!!

Desk Redo

Desk Redo

The cold weather here in Tennessee has put quite a damper on being able to get out there and work on projects. Hopefully with my new heater (Thank you Dad!!) and some warmer temps I can finally get back to it. We recently purchased a beautiful solid maple highboy dresser and matching vanity that I can wait to start. So keep checking back and you will see the transformation.
In the meantime here is a fun little piece I tackled in the garage while it was snowing!!

Pallet Bench

The Hubby's Pallet Bench
Made from ALL scraps I think this turned out gorgeous.
We somehow lucked out when we picked up these extra long pallets.
When he cut into them the were mahogany.
Who makes pallets out of that????
Crazy, you never know what you may come across :)
So the entire frame is solid mahogany,
talk about a well built piece!
I did paint it and age the boards but I do have to give all the credit to my wonderful hubby!
He did an amazing job.

Here is what he started with:

And here is the magical part:

and the back of it

I sure hope he decides to build more...
maybe one for our house since this one already sold!!
